Full Review: Staying at Veriu Broadway, a Pet-Friendly Hotel in Sydney’s Inner City

An urban crash pad with a laid-back edge, Veriu Broadway puts you and your pup right in Sydney’s student-meets-creative hub, minutes from Central and the CBD.

Veriu Broadway feels less like a hotel and more like borrowing a mate’s stylish city pad. You’re in Ultimo, where uni kids spill out of lecture halls, cafés hum with flat whites and the city’s grit still lingers on the edges. Dogs fit right into the mix – staff don’t blink when you wander in with a lead in one hand and your overnight bag in the other. The suites are spacious, the vibe is relaxed, and stepping outside drops you straight into Sydney’s inner-city rhythm.

Checking in at Veriu Broadway with our pup – a city stay that feels more local crash pad than hotel chain.

Dog Friendly Features at Veriu Broadway

Pet Fee

A one-off $250 cleaning fee applies when your pet joins you for a stay. Additional charges may apply for damages or rescheduled housekeeping.

Pet Rooms

Pets are only permitted in the room you’ve booked. They’re not allowed in the gym, pool, laundry, or other guest rooms.

Price

$$ – Mid-range boutique. Positioned as a more affordable city stay than Sydney’s luxury five-stars, while offering more space and style than a standard hotel.

Pet Policy

Dogs and cats are welcome, but restricted/prohibited breeds aren’t allowed (including Pit Bulls, Dogo Argentinos, Japanese Tosas, Presa Canarios, wolfdogs and certain hybrid cats such as Savannahs and Bengals). Pets must be vaccinated, flea-free and in good health.

Welcome Amenities

No set pet package, but you’ll need to bring your own bedding, bowls, and treats. The hotel focuses more on policy compliance than perks.

Green Spaces Nearby

Within walking distance you’ll find Victoria Park (handy for quick walks) and Prince Alfred Park. Camperdown Memorial Rest Park is also nearby, with Centennial Park a short drive away for off-leash space.

Staff Friendliness

Staff are firm about the rules but welcoming to well-behaved pets. Expect clear guidance at check-in and a straightforward process if you’ve got health and vaccination records ready.

Our Take

We found that Veriu Broadway isn’t about pampering your pet – it’s a practical, inner-city base with clear rules and a decent location. Bring your own gear, follow the policy and you’ll find it a solid spot to crash with your pup between city adventures.

Staying at Veriu Broadway

Veriu Broadway leans into its apartment-style design, with studios and one-beds that feel more like short-term city living than a hotel stay. Each room comes with a kitchenette, practical layout and enough space to make life with a pet straightforward. The building itself has warehouse bones and a simple, functional feel – not flashy, but comfortable. Step outside and you’re well positioned for inner-city adventures, with uni cafés, local parks, and Sydney’s best urban walks just beyond the door.

Why We Recommend Veriu Broadway

If you want a pet-friendly base that’s central without the five-star price tag, Veriu Broadway works. The apartment-style rooms mean you’ve got a kitchenette and a bit more independence than a standard hotel, which makes life easier when you’ve got a dog in tow. The location’s unbeatable for tapping into Sydney’s inner-city energy – cafés, shopping and transport are all right there – and while the pet policy is on the stricter side, it’s clear and straightforward. For travellers who want convenience and function over frills, it’s a solid choice.

Before You Book

  • Address: 35 Mountain Street, Ultimo NSW 2007
  • Parking: Guests can park at Broadway Shopping Centre for $45 per 24 hours. You’ll need to purchase a discounted exit ticket from reception at check-in and confirm how many nights you’ll be staying. Note it’s a single-use ticket – no multiple entries. Street parking in Ultimo is scarce and heavily metered, so this is your best bet.
  • Transport: This is one of Sydney’s most connected spots. Central Station is about a 10-minute walk, with buses running along Broadway to the CBD and Inner West. Most of the neighbourhood is best explored on foot – you’re minutes from Victoria Park, Broadway Shopping Centre, and Chippendale cafés.

PawTripper tip: Not all the transport options apply when you’re travelling with your dog – check our guide to dog-friendly transport in Sydney for the real run-down.

Always confirm details when booking, as availability and pricing can change.
